Statutory Homelessness

This course, although predominantly geared towards those officers undertaking homeless assessments, I would argue, is for anyone working in social housing with a tenancy enforcement role.

The course take you through the key stages of determining homelessness and the duties that come with that, namely:

  • When someone is deemed to be statutorily homeless?
  • Who is eligible?
  • Prevention/Relief duty?  How do they work?
  • Temporary Accommodation - to provide or not to provide!
  • Priority need and who is the ordinary person when homeless
  • Intentionality
  • Local connection
  • Suitability of accommodation
  • Discharge of statutory duty
  • Review and Appeal rights

This 2 day course is currently only available in a live format, whether virtually or face to face.  A digital form of this course is currently being developed.
